Courtesy Library of Congress This compilation of photos of African Americans was created by the Farm Security Administration. It documents American life during the Great Depression. It includes images of the effects of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and rural and small-town life.

Lots of haunting images in this collection. A caption under one talks about the sharecropper and his family who do not have equipment, tools or a garden. You have to wonder how they made it day to day without the most basic resources.
