Tuesday August 19, 2008
Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., creator of PBS’ successful show “African American Lives,” has a new idea that could take high school history and science curricula in an entirely new direction. How would you like the opportunity to trace your family’s roots while at the same time learning about American history and DNA? Well, that is exactly what Gates proposes for high school students. Dear Dr, Gates,
What a super idea. The sooner kids are helped to realize our human interconnectedness through DNA, the sooner they’ll move past racism and get on with improving the world for us all.
